The Construction Operation Building information exchange (COBie) is an information delivery specification often typically delivered at the end of a project. However, the goal of COBie is to highlight how handover information can be captured and delivered during design and construction saving both time and money compared with traditional handover methods.
Learn more about what it means to be a COBie master with this blog.

Airports need to have clearer knowledge and understanding of critical systems, assets, data and information to make better decisions. Airports do not always know what entities, types, properties, and quantities to choose while working with critical airport object classes. The creation of clear agreements within the airport community will allow for airports to focus on the necessary parts of the IFC schema, maximizing the value throughout the whole lifecycle of assets and reduce inconsistencies and redundancies.
buildingSMART International is calling on industry sponsorship to fund the Airport Entities project.
buildingSMART USA is hosting a webinar series covering technical and industry topics. The webinars take place on the second Wednesday of each month and recordings of the first two webinars are available now:
'Meet the New buildingSMART USA Technical Committee' took place in June featuring technical leaders Jeffrey W. Ouellette and Dr. Dennis Shelden.
'openBIM: An Owner’s Perspective' was hosted by Dr. Calvin Kam in July, who was joined by guest speaker Charles Matta.
The next webinar is later today (Wednesday 11th August) and covers 'The buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD) Service & US national standard content (USDD)'. Join Dr. Aaron Costin, leader of the USDD Working Group, as he walks the community through the proposal for a US national standard data dictionary (the USDD) governed by bS-USA and its members.
OGC Seeking Sponsors for a new IDBE Pilot linking Geospatial
and Building Information Models
The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), together with buildingSMART International (bSI) invite organizations to express their interest in sponsoring the OGC Integrated Digital Built Environment Pilot.
The Pilot will explore, through real-world use cases, the current state-of-the-art in geospatial and Building Information Model (BIM) data integration and forge a path for better-integrated solutions. Responses are due September 30, 2021.
Due to the uncertainties generated by the 4th wave of covid-19 and its Delta variant in France (whose contamination rate is increasing very rapidly) and in order to avoid last-minute travel restrictions or bans, the organizers have no choice but to postpone the InfraBIM Open congress to 10-12 January 2022.
