Welcome to the buildingSMART International Newsletter for July 2019. This edition covers a wide range of topics including the availability of the Annual Report 2018, webinar registration information and other community news. This edition announces the location and date for the International Standards Summit in Spring 2020. There is also some important appointments in the community. 

The Board, SAC, International Council and Chapter Conference, Helsinki, 4-6 June 2019

buildingSMART's annual Board, SAC, International Council and Chapter Conference was held in Helsinki, Finland between 4-6 June 2019. During this event, the annual report was approved, a new board member was appointed and a new chapter in development was agreed. A full report will be available in the next edition of the newsletter.

Annual Report 2018

buildingSMART International is pleased to share its annual report for 2018. This report was approved by the International Council in Helsinki. It includes information relating to Rooms, Standards and Summits and much more. Read the report here.

Software Certification

The second IFC4 Reference View 1.2 Export-Arch certification has been approved by buildingSMART International. GRAPHISOFT's ARCHICAD is now fully certified. You can read the full press release below.

Chapter News:

buildingSMART International welcomes a new Chapter in "Developing" status. The new status of developing chapter was granted by the board following the formal submission, which included a signing of the Chapter Membership Agreement. Read more.

Rasso Steinmann has been appointed as Deputy Chairman of buildingSMART International. Rasso has served as a Board member and Software Certification Program leader. Rasso was appointed during the International Council meeting in Helsinki in June 2019. See the full list here.

buildingSMART International is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board member. Christophe Castaing was appointed following an election at the International Council meeting in Helsinki, June 2019. Christophe currently works at Egis.

Chapter Event:

buildingSMART Germany is hosting their 23rd buildingSMART Forum, with the theme "Helping to Shape a Digital Future". The event is taking place 23rd October 2019 in Berlin.

buildingSMART Norway has hosted the first legal group in buildingSMART. With the growing use of digital data and information, it has been recognised that legal networks need to be fully involved in the process. Read more here.

Dr Dr Anne Kemp OBE, UK BIM Alliance Chair, Fellow and Technical Director at Atkins, has received the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her contribution to the development of the UK’s smart digital economy.
