The finalists in the openBIM Awards 2023 were recently announced; you can see who they are in the press release, and look forward to hearing them present at the Summit in Lillestrøm.
There are also a couple of webinars - upcoming and recently held - for registration or viewing, and a new podcast series 'Domain Chats' is underway and available on demand.

A little about me:
I live just outside of London and work from home when not at a bSI Summit or workshop. Many of you will know me as a Domain Program Coordinator helping steering committees progress their roadmap activities and working with project teams on tasks, planning, and delivery. Within the bSI Management Office, I'm also responsible for reviewing and updating terms and conditions for the contracts that we agree with members, suppliers, sponsors, Chapters, etc.
I am married with 3 grown-up children and a dog called Jaffa. When not working, I like to travel, go to the theatre and follow my football team Leeds United. To keep fit I run, cycle, and play golf.
A little-known fact about me - I once worked as a Project Manager at the UK Space Agency. So, when people say that their job "isn't rocket science", for a short while, mine was!
Introducing the Summit Sponsors
Ticket sales for the event are well underway and the agenda is now live on the event website. There you can also read more about what to expect from the Summit, and book the conference hotel at a discounted rate (until 7th September).

The three Platinum Event Partners will each deliver a keynote at the start of the day, the Gold Sponsors will form a panel discussion as part a a session on 'Digital Workflows', and the four Supporting Partners will explore the pivotal role of asset owners in driving open data initiatives.
openBIM and Product Passports – Are you Fit for 55?
As part of the International Standards Summit in Lillestrøm, Norway, there is a dedicated workshop on "openBIM and Product Passports". This workshop is suitable for manufacturers of building and infrastructure materials, construction companies, contractors, or even asset owners. The topics and sessions will focus on how EU regulation will impact products and materials and how it will help make the industry more sustainable by focusing on topics like the circular economy.
buildingSMART International is delighted to share the complete list of finalists for the buildingSMART openBIM Awards 2023. Finalists will be invited to present their projects to an international jury for consideration as part of the final round of the program.
The finalist presentations will take place during the buildingSMART International Standards Summit - Lillestrøm 2023, 18th – 21st September in Norway. The presentations will be throughout the day on Wednesday, 20th September, with the winners announced that evening during the Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner.

"How openBIM enables infrastructure design and construction"
At the end of July, bSI members Esri and Autodesk collaborated in a webinar titled "How openBIM enables infrastructure design and construction" and the recording is now publicly available. Presenters Marc Goldman and Marek Suchocki are both Infrastructure Domain Steering Committee members and talked about:
• The status on Esri and Autodesk platforms regarding the import and export of IFC data • Best practices of working with openBIM in GIS and BIM environments • openBIM Interoperability between leading geospatial and design applications • Customer proof-points on how they have implemented best practices
Richard Kelly, Operations Director at bSI, has been talking with members of the Steering Committees from the different buildingSMART Domains in the form of podcast chats. You can listen to the first two below.
Marc Goldman
Marc Goldman of Esri discusses his election to the buildingSMART International Infrastructure Domain Steering Committee, how BIM and GIS standards are going to reshape the future of the building and infrastructure industry, the emergence of digital twins and their real-world benefits, plus some insights into his personal life.
