Welcome to the buildingSMART International Newsletter for November 2019. This bumper edition covers the follow-up to the International Standards Summit in Beijing, China as well as other exciting news from the industry. You will also find information about the International Awards Program finalists and winners, including promotional videos. There has been a number of new members join bSI, including Oracle as a Strategic Member. You can find information about partner events that buildingSMART International is supporting. There is some breaking news about IFC Rail which has reached Candidate Standard and is available for general viewing and comment. The buildingSMART International Standards Summit, Beijing, China, 28-31 October 2019
The buildingSMART International Standards Summit in Beijing, China was heralded as a great success. You can find out about the record attendance, Chinese cultural experiences, information about the working week and so much more.
The winners for the industry categories, special distinctions, honourable mention and special contribution awards were announced on 28th October 2019. In 2019, the International Awards Program team introduced a finalists qualification to help better understand the openBIM submissions. This meant finalists were invited to present their project online to the jury. You can find these presentations as well as finalist videos below.
IFC Rail has reached Candidate Standard and is ready for international review. buildingSMART is calling on the industry for comment with access to the candidate standard available below. As part of the buildingSMART International consensus, input is required in order to progress the standard to the next stage of the bSI Process. All standards go through this process in order to reach consensus. You can review the Candidate Standard by clicking the link below.
Oracle has joined buildingSMART International as a Strategic Member and will become part of the Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) helping to move the industry towards a more neutral and open approach to interoperability. “We joined buildingSMART International as a strategic member because of our shared values concerning interoperability, something that I believe is at the heart of Oracle", Frank Weiss, Senior Director, Oracle.
