The Infrastructure Room Steering Committee, led by Tiina Perttula, continue in their remit to drive common principles for achieving process integration during the entire lifecycle phases of infrastructure development. The final goal of this collaborative work programme is to deliver a comprehensive, harmonized, fully tested, implementable and relevant set of IFC extensions for infrastructure by the end of 2020. The team looks forward to sharing progress at the bSI Summit in Beijing, China October 29 – October 31. Progress and what to expect are as follows:
IFC Road, Rail, Ports & Waterways and Common Schema all aim to complete their final concept models, ifcDoc Specifications, MVDs and Property Set definitions for presentation at the bSI Summit in Beijing.
IFC Tunnel Project is working towards an agreed work plan and is committed to complete the schema specification by the end of 2020.
InfraRoom Roadmap – IRSC’s Roadmap working group will provide an update at the bSI Summit on developments on the Roadmap.

Bill Moore is the Canadian Chapter Chairman and Treasurer and Board of Director member for buildingSMART International. Bill also represents the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada (ACEC). Read more

Anstein Skinnarland is Chairman of the Norway Chapter and has been involved in BIM work since 2002. He has helped develop and strengthen the Norwegian Chapter during his time as its Managing Director growing total membership to 140+ members. Read more.

The buildingSMART Awards finalist presentations will take place in September. All finalists are invited to present to an independent jury who will decide who wins their category based on the strength of the presentation. The winners will be announced in Beijing at the Standards Summit in October.
Membership Update:
buildingSMART International is pleased to welcome two new members. The ILF Group is an engineering and consulting firm and Stora Enso is a renewable timber materials company. Both companies have joined as Standard Members. You can see the full list here.

buildingSMART Australasia Signs MoU with AMCA and BIM-MEPaus. The MoU will help design to as-built and design to fabrication workflows and product identification between the different parties. You can read more.
