"Legal implications of data exchange in the built environment"
Friday 16th September, 3.00-4.30 pm (GMT+1)
At the 2019 buildingSMART International Spring Summit in Dusseldorf, Germany we welcomed Evelien Bruggeman as a special guest. Evelien is a professor in Construction Law and head of the Instituut voor Bouwrecht at The Hague, Netherlands. We heard from her then about her legal skills on the influence of new digital construction methods in the field of construction contract law and procurement law with the participants of the international "LAW@BIM"-working-group-session.
There is now the opportunity to hear from Evelien again, this time on the topic of "Legal implications of data exchange in the built environment – An exploration of the force field between technical and societal developments and law“
All are welcome and invited to join this event, please follow the link below to take advantage of this opportunity to explore this very interesting and innovative field in modern construction law.
The IFC 4.3 Project, the largest Railway Room project to date, was divided into two phases. The Railway Room has developed new web pages on the buildingSMART International website dedicated to each phase of the IFC 4.3 Project. Phase 1 of the project has now been completed and the deliverable reports published on the IFC Project Phase 1 page.
buildingSMART International and the stakeholders of the IFC Rail Project invite Railway companies, software vendors, and software developers to join the second phase of the IFC Rail Project. If you are interested in joining the project please follow the link below to find out more.
In addition to the two-phased IFC 4.3 Project, the Railway Room has also set up the Applying IFC 4.3 for Rail (aIFC4Rail) project, as the subsequent project of IFC Rail Phase 2. This project aims to expedite the availability of IFC 4.3 in software solutions. There is an opportunity to be part of the project team for this too, if you are interested please get in touch.
This in-depth article gives an overview of BIM, openBIM, and buildingSMART's role in developing the standards that are now being implemented worldwide. The publication goes into detail, succinctly answering questions such as Is BIM a regulation? Is BIM mandatory? What is an IFC File? What information does an IFC File contain?
This publication succinctly explains the current use of openBIM and increases awareness of its benefits. buildingSMART Membership gives access to be a part of the community developing these standards; if you are not already a member consider reading more about our memberships and the benefits.
Since he joined buildingSMART International in 2013, Richard professionalized and transformed the community by providing structure, people, and confidence in his leadership and vision. This vision helped to ensure the entire built asset industry could work together across borders and across language barriers to achieve common goals. At this event, you will hear from some of the key people that helped to support this vision.
This memorial will bring together the buildingSMART community and his family to celebrate his achievements and accomplishments and will reflect on a remarkable career.
